Does my data leave our systems?+
It depends on where you use Shark. The preview on this page runs entirely in your browser: your files never leave your machine, and only Ask Shark sends your question and a few matching passages to our language-model provider. The hosted workspace keeps your documents on our servers in the EU, and its AI features send the text they work on to our language-model provider — your organisation can switch hosted AI off under Controls. A deployment can run inside your own network, with the model you choose.
Can other people see what I upload?+
No. The preview keeps everything in your browser's own storage, with no shared server behind it. In the hosted workspace, your documents belong to your organisation and are kept apart from every other one; only people you invite can see them.
Which AI does Shark use?+
The hosted workspace runs an open-weight language model — currently OpenAI's gpt-oss — through our language-model provider, and your organisation can switch it off under Controls. On a deployment, we connect the model or agent you already use: OpenAI, Anthropic's Claude, xAI's Grok, Nous Research's Hermes or OpenClaw. Shark's pipeline does the reading, extraction, checks, citations and ranking around it.
Does it act on my behalf?+
No. Shark drafts and proposes; a person confirms. Replies are written but never sent without approval, and nothing extracted from a document is treated as fact until someone accepts it.
How does it avoid making things up?+
Every extracted item quotes the sentence it came from, and answers are built only from passages retrieved out of your own documents. When the documents do not contain an answer, it says so rather than filling the gap.
What file types does it handle?+
The preview reads PDF, Word (.docx), plain text and Markdown, all parsed in your browser. The hosted workspace also takes email (.eml) and calendar (.ics) files and meeting transcripts (.vtt, .srt), and can import a calendar from an ICS link. Scanned PDFs with no selectable text are the exception in both: Shark reads text, not images.
Is it available now?+
Yes. Every Red Orca account includes a private Shark workspace, free — open it with the button at the top of this page. The preview needs no account at all. Deployments with your own model, tools and servers are arranged with us directly.
